Russia lost elite specialists in Gostomel – GUR

Intelligence representatives suggest that the Russian Federation wants to repeat the scenario of the seizure of the airport, as during the “Pristina attack” in Kosovo.

The Russian invaders lost 200 elite specialists in the seizure of airfields and airfields during the battle of Gostomel. The commander of a special forces unit, an intelligence officer of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense, which participated in the battle for Kiev, spoke about this, GUR reports on its Telegram channel on Saturday, September 16.

According to him, in Gostomel the invaders intended to land the troops and capture the Antonov airport. According to the Kremlin’s plan, this airport near Kiev should serve as a major hub for the rapid transfer of equipment and manpower by aircraft for the occupation of the capital.

It seems that the Russians thought that they would repeat the scenario of taking over the airport, like during the “Pristina throw” in Kosovo on June 12, 1999. They thought that in Gostomel they would repeat the scenario of taking over the airport, like of the events in Kazakhstan in early January 2022. They were so self-confident, they did not realize that they were dealing with Ukrainians,” he emphasized.

The actions of the GUR special forces and other units of the State Security and Defense Forces in Gostomel were aimed at destroying as many enemy forces and property as possible and preventing the capture of the airport.

As a result of the fierce fighting, the runways at the airport became unsuitable for receiving Russian aircraft carrying troops and equipment. The Ukrainian Armed Forces inflicted heavy losses on the enemy.

“During the battles for the Antonov airport, the aggressor state lost about 200 elite combat specialists in the capture of airfields and airfields, which have been participating in military exercises of this type for decades,” said a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate.

As already reported, the heavy An-124 Ruslan Airlines Antonov aircraft took off from the Gostomel airport literally a few hours before the large-scale Russian invasion and remained intact.

Let’s recall that on February 27, 2022, as a result of an air attack by Russian troops on the territory of the Gostomel airport, the An-225 Dream was set on fire.
