The State Department said Russia had again chosen confrontation and escalation and promised a response.
The US State Department said it will not stand by Russia’s decision to expel two American embassy employees in Moscow over allegations of alleged espionage activities. US State Department Spokesman Matthew Miller announced this in a briefing on Thursday, September 15.
He noted that Russia has once again “chosen confrontation and escalation over constructive diplomatic engagement.”
“It continues to harass our embassy staff, and it continues to terrorize its citizens. We are sorry that Russia has taken this path, and you can certainly count on us to respond appropriately to its actions,” Miller said.
However, he did not specify what Washington’s retaliation might be.
We remind you that the Russian Foreign Ministry has declared two secretaries of the US Embassy persona non grata.
