The White House press service announced this today, September 14.
US President Joe Biden on Thursday, September 14, appointed Penny Pritzker as special representative for the economic recovery of Ukraine. This was reported by the White House press service.
As a seasoned public servant, former Secretary of Commerce, and transformational industry leader—with deep ties to Ukraine—Special Representative Pritzker brings decades of experience and expertise to this important post,” said U.S. President Joe Biden.
The White House statement said Pritzker will lead U.S. efforts to help rebuild Ukraine’s economy, working closely with the Ukrainian government, allies and international financial institutions. This includes:
- mobilization of public and private investment;
- shaping donor priorities and working to reopen export markets and businesses closed as a result of Russian attacks and destruction;
- helping the Ukrainian government implement the reforms needed to strengthen the economy;
- working with Ukraine’s other international partners, including through the G7 coordination platform, to ensure complementarity and strengthening of international efforts.
According to Forbes, the Pritzker family is one of the richest in the world – their total wealth exceeds $30 billion. The source of the family’s wealth is the international chain of hotels of the highest level, Hyatt Hotels Corporation. Pritzker’s ancestors at the end of the 19th century. They emigrated to the USA from the village of Bolshie Pritsky (now Obukhovsky district of the Kyiv region).
