At least 9,000 people are considered missing, Red Crescent officials said.

The death toll has reached 3,000 as a result of rains and floods that engulfed the northeastern region of Libya, the TV channel reported on September 12 Al Hadath in reference to the Ministry of Health.

“Today the number of victims of the disaster in the country has reached 3,000, the missing number in the thousands,” the Libyan Ministry of Health said in a statement.

At least 9,000 people are believed to be missing from the floods caused by Storm Daniel, according to the Red Crescent.

Libyan media quoted the government’s eastern government health minister, Osman Abdel Jalil, as predicting that the storm’s death toll would rise to 10,000 and 100,000 missing.

Let’s remember that on September 10, the east of Libya was engulfed by a storm, which brought strong winds and heavy downpours with storms to the cities located on the Mediterranean coast.

Residential buildings, hospitals and other important civilian facilities were flooded. The city of Derna suffered the most, where two dams were destroyed. It was previously reported that around 2,000 had died.

Libyan authorities have declared three days of national mourning. The country’s parliament, headquartered in eastern Libya, announced an emergency meeting on Thursday to consider the necessary measures to quickly overcome the consequences of the natural disaster.
