British aircraft began patrolling the Black Sea to prevent Russia from attacking ships carrying Ukrainian grain.
British Royal Air Force aircraft began patrolling the Black Sea to prevent Russia from attacking ships carrying Ukrainian grain. This was stated in a press release issued by the press service of the Prime Minister of Great Britain.
After withdrawing from the Black Sea Grain Initiative, Russia declared as its legitimate target all ships bound for Ukrainian ports, regardless of cargo.
In August, to reinforce their threat, the Russians fired on and landed troops on a civilian ship bound for one of Ukraine’s ports on the Danube.
London has deployed its intelligence capabilities, especially air surveillance, to monitor Russian activities in the Black Sea.
“As part of these surveillance operations, Royal Air Force aircraft are flying in the area to prevent Russia from unlawfully targeting civilian grain shipping vessels,” the statement said.
The British are trying to prevent not only open attacks on civilian ships, but also “false flag” provocations.
As we have already written, the UK will transfer Scimitar Mk2 reconnaissance vehicles to Ukraine.
