This was announced by the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Sergei Naev, Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense Vadim Skibitsky, and Senior Researcher at the Center for a New American Security Samuel Bendett in an interview with Reuters.
Naev pointed out that the German Gepard air defense systems, which have a radar with a radius of 12 km, are on defense. Gaps in country-wide air defense coverage are filled by heavy machine guns such as the American M2 Browning.
According to Skibitsky, Moscow may start using more Shaheds at the same time as missiles in order to mislead Ukrainian air defense. Russian attacks on energy infrastructure could begin in late September or early October.
Samuel Bendett, a senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security, noted that Ukraine is well prepared for new drone strikes. But due to the fact that their number is constantly growing, a problem may arise.
Russia is still far from its intended goal of producing thousands of these drones, the analyst said.
According to military analysts, Shaheds cost about 20 thousand dollars. each, and the air defense missiles supplied by the event, which Kyiv used last winter, cost many times more.
