The Counterintelligence of the Security Service detained a Russian informant who was correcting an air attack on Sumy on the night of September 7. The press service of the department reported this.
According to the investigation, the “targeting” of enemy weapons was carried out by a Russian citizen who has a residence permit in Ukraine and has been living in Sumy for a long time. After the full invasion of Russia, it began to remotely cooperate with the main directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the aggressor country (known as the GRU).
“At the direction of the military intelligence of the Russian Federation, the woman collected information about objects in the city, which she considered places of possible presence of the defenders of Ukraine. To collect intelligence data, she walked around territory of the regional center, allegedly. on his own business, or “secretly” asked the “necessary” information from his friends,” the statement said.
The defendant sent the information he received through the messenger in the form of text messages with coordinates of Ukrainian objects. In addition, he was involved in the creation of his own network of agents in the center of the region.
The henchman of the invaders was charged with inciting high treason under military law (part 4 of article 27, part 2 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and of unauthorized dissemination of information about the movement or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (part 3 of article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The woman faces up to life in prison.
