Five Ukrainian films will compete for an Oscar

The committee will review all applications and select a film, which will be submitted to the 96th Academy Awards.

The Ukrainian Oscar Committee (UOC) has named the five films included in the national selection for the prestigious Academy Award. This was reported on the organization’s Facebook page.

Specifically, films will compete in the Best International Feature Film category.

“The acceptance of applications for films participating in the selection for the Academy Award of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the category of Best International Feature Film from Ukraine has been completed,” the message said.

The list includes films:

20 days in Mariupol, director Mstislav Chernov

Iron Butterflies, directed by Roman Lyuby

Pamfir, director Dmitry Sukholitky-Sobchuk

Terricons, director Taras Tomenko

STTL, directed by Adrien Walter

It is noteworthy that in 2019, Ukraine nominated the film Home (Evge) by Nariman Aliyev for the Oscar Award, in 2020 – Atlantis by Valentin Vasyanovich (Atlantis), 2021 – Bad Roads by Natalia Vorozhbit, 2022 – Klondike by Marina Er Gorbach .

It was earlier reported that due to strikes by actors and screenwriters, the most prestigious Oscar ceremony has been postponed.
