This is not the first time that Russia has used the geographical character of the Odessa region in the context of its proximity to the Romanian border.
The head of the Joint Coordinating Press Center of the Defense Forces of the South of Ukraine, Natalya Gumenyuk, who commented on the downing of Russian drones in Romania, said that Russia is not the first time to use the geographical feature of the region of Odessa in the context of its proximity to the Romanian border. He said this in a briefing on September 4.
“The enemy, knowing this, has repeatedly used such a geographical feature of this region, directing drones as precisely as possible to the state border,” said Gumenyuk.
According to him, the distance there is so small that the error of the loitering projectile itself, which is a kamikaze drone, and the combat work and its consequences can be a real threat to the neighboring country.
“The fact is recorded, the neighboring country was informed that such a danger exists, and we recorded a hit. From our side, Ukraine, as an open country, we honestly and sincerely inform. Further response should be in neighboring countries,” said Gumenyuk.
It will be remembered that tonight Russia attacked the south and east of Ukraine with Shahed-136/131 drones. A total of 32 drones were released. Air defense forces were able to shoot down 23 drones. Hits were recorded in the Izmail and Dnieper regions.
Later, the Foreign Ministry said that the Russian “Shaheds” fell and exploded on Romanian territory.
Bucharest noted that the strike weapons used by Russia did not pose a direct military threat to Romania’s national territory or territorial waters.
