Armenia’s prime minister lamented that Russia is not fulfilling its obligations to control the Lachin corridor that connects the country to Nagorno-Karabakh.
Russia is moving away from the South Caucasus because of its inaction. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this in an interview with La Repubblica.
“We see that Russia, with steps taken or not taken on its part, is moving away from the region. We do not know what are the reasons why this is happening. There is, of course, an assumption. But there are processes that leading to the realization that one day we will wake up and see that Russia is no longer here,” Pashinyan said.
He noted that the Lachin corridor, which connects Armenia with Nagorno-Karabakh, should be under the control of Russian peacekeepers.
“But it is not under the control of Russian peacekeepers. Why? There may be two reasons – either Russia cannot control the Lachin corridor, or does not want to,” the Armenian prime minister noted, adding that both reasons have problem
Recall that in August a rally was held in Yerevan demanding the unblocking of the Lachin corridor.
