The Ministry of Defense filed a lawsuit with a request “to refute false information about the alleged purchase of eggs for 17 hryvnias each.” This was announced on Saturday, September 2, by Aleksey Kopytko, adviser to the head of the defense department.
He said the defendants in the lawsuit are the State Audit Service and the publication, “which was used to post false information.”
The adviser to the Minister of Defense noted that on January 18, 2023, the relevant information was published on the Icelandic channel, “but it does not receive resonance because of the tragedy in Brovary.” On January 21, the publication appeared on the ZN.ua website.
Additionally, Kopytko said, four months later, on May 31, the head of the State Audit Service, Alla Basalaeva, gave an interview in which she said that the Ministry of Defense allegedly bought eggs at 17 each, 170 for a dozen.
10 days later, several Ukrainian publications published news with relevant quotes from Basalaeva, presenting it as an official statement of the State Audit Service that does not correspond to the truth, emphasized Kopytko.
“The official audit action of the Ministry of Defense is exactly the opposite of what was said in an interview with the head of the State Audit Office,” said Kopytko.
According to him, to prove this, it was enough for the official to publish three paragraphs of the text from this law, but the whole action was classified as “secret”, so the Ministry of Defense filed a case in a court which has a suitable clearance.
Recall that the publication ZN.ua published material that the Ministry of Defense allegedly buys products two to three times more expensive than their value in Kyiv stores.
The head of the Ministry of Defense denied the accusations, explaining the scandal with many mistakes in the contracts. He also called the situation “an artificial information attack under a fictitious pretext.” However, the director of the procurement department of the Ministry of Defense was fired.
At a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov acknowledged the mistakes in the contract for the nutrition of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
