Awards were received by fighters who shot down an X-101 cruise missile in the Kyiv region on August 30 from the Stinger portable air defense system.
The Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant-General Serhiy Naev, awarded the soldiers of the mobile air defense fire group, which on August 30 shot down a Kh-101 cruise missile from a portable Stinger air defense system in the Kiev region. This was reported by the command of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Naev met with the personnel of the mobile air defense fire group operating in the direction of Kiev. He congratulated the servicemen on the excellent result, thanked them for their fighting spirit, successful organization and protection of Ukrainian skies, and also awarded them “For Courage and Victory” awards.
According to the commander, an extensive air defense system operates in the Northern Operational Zone, one of its elements is mobile fire groups equipped with man-portable air defense systems.
“The complexity of the task of these fighters lies in the fact that, unlike the operators of stationary anti-aircraft missile systems capable of automatically detecting targets, they are forced to find, capture and, above all , destroy the target on their own,” said Naev.
He added that according to statistics, the percentage of effectiveness of the air defense system has increased significantly. For example, in the last missile attack of the enemy, all 20 cruise missiles were shot down, that is, 100%.
Recall that on August 30, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with air-launched cruise missiles and attack drones. In total, 44 air targets were launched (28 missiles and 16 UAVs), the Ukrainian air defense failed to shoot down only the drone.
Earlier, the Ukrainian military in the Kharkiv region shot down a Russian missile, launched by the invaders from the S-300 air defense system.
