The FSB sniper, who was preparing an attempt on the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Zaporozhye, was detained.

The Russian agent worked in a criminal group, some of the members were also detained by security officials.

Counterintelligence of the Security Service detained another member of the FSB agent network, who, on May 9 of this year, was preparing an attempt on the command of the defense forces in the Zaporozhye region. This was reported by the SBU press service on Friday, September 1.

It was noted that on the eve of May 9, the SBU detained two organizers of the enemy group. Subsequently, their accomplice was exposed, who had hidden weapons and ammunition in his own apartment under his 6-year-old daughter’s bed.

So far, the special service has tracked down the fourth member of the FSB agent network with the call sign “Phantom”. After a series of imprisonments by his henchmen, he “lay down” and thus tried to avoid punishment.

According to the investigation, the defendant is a resident of Zaporozhye, a former military man skilled in shooting from a silent-shooting sniper rifle “Vintorez”. These weapons are manufactured in Russia and are mainly used by special forces units of the aggressor country.

According to reports, it was from a rifle that the Phantom was supposed to make an attempt at the command of the combat units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine fighting on the front line of the southern front. To do this, the Russian “curators” of the enemy sniper planned to give him a cache of weapons.

After neutralizing the other members of the undercover group, the FSB representative contacted Phantom again. During the communication session, he set a new task for his agent – to correct the enemy’s strike on the front positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine using the Russian Solntsepek flamethrower system.

To collect intelligence about the locations of the Ukrainian defenders, the person involved “blindly” tried to use his acquaintances from the front-line districts of the region.

As a result of a multi-stage special operation, officers of the Security Service detained a Russian agent and thus prevented an enemy attack on the advanced units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

During searches of the detainee’s place of residence, more than half a thousand cartridges of various calibers were seized, including 308 win cartridges for firing from a sniper rifle.

Based on the collected evidence, the defendant is planned to be brought under suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

• attempted murder;

• illegal possession of weapons, ammunition or explosives.

The issue of further qualification of his criminal actions under the High treason article committed under martial law has also been resolved. The perpetrator faces life in prison.

Recall that since the beginning of the war, the Security Service of Ukraine has exposed thousands of people who worked for the enemy. The department emphasizes that the SBU conducts special operations of the highest level of complexity, which really change the course of the war.
