The Secretary General of NATO has confirmed that this is his final continuation of the mandate in this post.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said he would not agree to continue his mandate. He said this in a comment on CNN.
“Being the secretary general that holds this great Alliance together is very important,” Stoltenberg said.
Commenting on NATO’s expansion over the past year, as well as Sweden’s upcoming entry into the Alliance, the Secretary General confirmed that this is his final continuation of the mandate.
“Being in the position of NATO Secretary General is a privilege, and now it is of particular importance, because a full-scale war is happening in Europe. We must mobilize our own unity, unite,” he stressed.
“This is my last extension” as NATO Secretary General, said @jensstoltenberg. He told me that “to be a general secretary who maintains this great alliance, that has been very meaningful.” pic.twitter.com/y6rVQVuVO9

As you know, Jens Stoltenberg has been the head of NATO since October 1, 2014. He was supposed to resign last year and planned to head the central bank in his native Norway, but in March 2022, the heads of the Alliance countries agreed to extend his mandate due to the outbreak of war in Ukraine.
And in July, it was reported that NATO member countries agreed to extend Stoltenberg’s mandate by another year, until October 1, 2024.
