Stoltenberg noted the leadership of the United States, both in support of Ukraine and the Transatlantic Alliance.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg is convinced that Russia’s war against Ukraine will end at the negotiating table, and NATO will help Ukrainians reach the best possible solution to the situation. On Thursday, June 2, he said after a meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden at the White House, CNN reports.
“Wars are inherently unpredictable, and so we just have to be prepared for the long haul,” Stoltenberg said.
He added that it had become a “war of attrition” in which Ukrainians were “paying a high price for defending their country on the battlefield” but “Russia was suffering bigger losses.”
Stoltenberg commended the United States for its leadership and support for Ukraine, as well as for its leadership in supporting the Transatlantic Alliance. According to him, US support is “changing the situation on the battlefield every day.”
“President Putin wants less NATO and that’s why he invaded Ukraine, but he’s getting more,” he said.
Earlier, NATO said the Russian Federation’s use of nuclear weapons could completely change the war.
Stoltenberg also said that no one can predict how quickly the war between Russia and Ukraine will end.
