According to experts’ forecasts, lightweight summer clothes will be in short supply. If monetary restrictions are not eased, the shortage of clothing and footwear will increase further in half a year, explains Sergey Badritdinov, CEO of Intertop Ukraine.
“There will be a shortage,” he said. “We produce only 20% of clothes and shoes in Ukraine. It’s not enough.”
“But this is an opportunity for Ukrainian clothing manufacturers,” said experts.
In their opinion, Ukrainian brands may increase demand for their products.
At the same time, experts note that international fashion brands are the main players in Ukrainian retail. In 2019-2020, according to the association Ukrlegprom, they occupied more than half of the entire market, smuggling and second-hand accounted for more than 30%, while Ukrainian manufacturers received only 11% of the market.
