Poland and Romania still receive the largest number of arrivals from the territory of Ukraine.
Since the beginning of Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine, 5.3 million Ukrainians have gone to EU countries. And the total number of refugees who came to the European Union, including non -citizens of Ukraine, is 7 million people. This is confirmed by data from the EU border agency Frontex, which covers the numbers from May 25 to 31.
Poland and Romania continue to host the largest number of arrivals, with 147,000 and 32,800 Ukrainian refugees respectively crossing the country’s borders between 25 and 31 May.
However, the Ukrainians began to go home. In particular, 2.3 million Ukrainians have returned to Ukraine since the beginning of the invasion. From 25 to 31 May, nearly 260,000 Ukrainians left the EU.
Also on May 23, the number of internally displaced people in Ukraine dropped for the first time. The total is now estimated at 7.1 million, down 11% from May 3.
Recall that from July 1, the Polish authorities will stop paying to certain categories of refugees a daily allowance for food and housing.
