His theses were promoted in social networks by members of the organization Creative society (to be rebranded – the pro-Russian sect AllatRa).
The Babel edition received letters to the editorial mail in which dozens of unknown people demanded to “stop hiding the truth” and publish a sensational appeal by the American scientist Egon Cholakian to three world leaders “on whom the future of mankind depends”: Joseph Biden, Xi Jinping.
In the appeal, Cholakyan says that, according to his observations, something bad is happening to the core of the Earth and there are only a few years left before the self-destruction of the planet. And in order to prevent this, he believes, not only politicians, but also scientists should unite their efforts.
The authors of the letters asked Babel to follow the example of other Ukrainian media that have already published this appeal – Ukrainian News, UNIAN and NV.
At the last, the news that “the planet has a few years left” gained more than half a million views. UNIAN published an appeal with a “press release” plate, that is, as an advertisement.
Babel’s journalists found out that the first video with Cholakyan appeared on his YouTube channel Earth Save Science Collaborative on August 13, 2023 – the same day as the channel itself.
In the video, Cholakyan said that due to numerous cataclysms and destructive processes in the core of the Earth, only a few years remained before the end of the world.
On August 17, the channel published a second video with an appeal to the “leaders of the world”, in which Cholakyan repeated the previous theses, but briefly. There are four faces on the cover of the second video – Cholakyan himself, Joseph Biden, Xi Jinping and Putin. Also in mid-August, the Earth Save Science Collaborative landing page appeared with Cholakyan’s biography, his photos and two videos.
As for Egon Cholakyan himself, the publication found out that now Cholakyan is just a retired lawyer and physicist, lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His biography states that he graduated from Harvard Law School in 1972, worked as a tax analyst for the US President’s Commission on International Trade and Investment Policy, and spent most of his life as a specialist in international tax law and national security, and now works as a federal lobbyist.
Subsequently, Cholakian became interested in physics, was a visiting researcher at Harvard and collaborated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Allegedly, he worked at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) on the Future Circular Collider project, a new collider that should replace the Large Hadron Collider. He also worked on NISAR, a NASA project to create a satellite that should record natural processes on Earth.
Babel writes that a person with such a surname does appear among the authors of reports of various CERN projects, where he is listed as an employee of Harvard University and Columbia University’s Nevis Labs research center. At the same time, there is no mention of Cholakian on the page of the Faculty of Physics at Harvard. Cholakyan himself in his biography specifies that he was a researcher in the field of national security, not physics. Babel did not find information about his work at Columbia University.
Cholakian’s LinkedIn profile has few references to his life in the natural sciences. Dozens of job postings are related in one way or another to law, national security, and cybersecurity. CERN and NASA have mentions of work, but without specifics.
Cholakyan’s Facebook page says that in 2020 he studied in six different programs at once at top American and European universities. He himself claims to be a certified mental health professional who works with the topics of grief and loss. He allegedly completed such courses in Australia.
Also, the publication draws attention, Cholakyan regularly distributes messages of the head of the Ukrainian party “National Platform” Kateryna Odarchenko (daughter of the people’s deputy of the V-VIII convocations and the ex-chairman of the Kherson Regional State Administration Yuriy Odarchenko. Manages the company SIC Group Ukraine, engaged in political consulting) without translation into English.
For example, Babel notes, a few days before the full-scale invasion, he circulated a speech in which Odarchenko assured that Putin would not dare to launch a big offensive. Odarchenko spoke Ukrainian. His messages are mostly scolded by people with empty profiles, without subscribers.
A month before the creation of his YouTube channel, on July 9, Cholakyan spoke on the same topic at the Global Crisis online conference. There is a Way Out hosted by Creative society. There he also talked about the near end of the world and the need to unite to save humanity. It was members of the Creative Society who promoted Cholakian’s statement on social media. for example, creating events on Facebook online, or recording a statement.
The Creative Society positions itself as an international volunteer movement dedicated to improving society. But, Babel notes, in fact, this is a rebranding of the AllatRa organization, which appeared in early 2010 in Ukraine, and then opened representative offices in Russia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, the USA and EU countries. AllatRu is often called a sect and a pseudo-scientific syncretic cult, the ideas of which are similar to the beliefs of the famous White Brotherhood sect. This cult has been actively promoting its activities and recruiting new members by 2018. After that, he began to work under the new international brand of Creative society.
At the conference, where Cholakyan spoke in early July, one of the founders of AllatRa, Igor Danilov, was present. Among the speakers was the Russian geophysicist Elizaveta Khromova, who confirmed that the core of the Earth is in poor condition and the end of the world is not far off. Khromova is also known for her statements about the need for the unity of the Slavic peoples under the wing of Russia.
AllatRu is often accused of supporting Russian propaganda.
