The head of the Ministry of Defense has promised that if allegations of buying summer jackets instead of winter ones are confirmed, he will resign.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said he would resign if allegations of buying summer jackets instead of winter ones were confirmed. He also called on the journalist and representative of the people to leave their posts if their accusations are not confirmed. He said this in a comment by NV.
“I propose a bet. If it turns out that the Ministry of Defense really supplied 180 thousand summer jackets instead of winter ones, then I, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov, write a letter of resignation,” he said.
Otherwise, according to the bet proposed by the Minister of Defense, the People’s Deputy Anastasia Radina should resign from her mandate, and the journalist Ukrainska Pravda Mykhailo Tkach should leave the publication and stop doing journalism inside of three years.
Reznikov invites the Committee on Parliamentary Ethics of the Verkhovna Rada and the Commission of Journalistic Ethics to be arbiters in this bet, and the editors of Ukrainian publications to be observers.
Reznikov promised to provide “all documents, evidence, facts and materials” related to the case, so that the winner of the dispute is obvious.
Recall that the publication Ukrayinska Pravda published an investigation stating that in the fall of 2022, the Ministry of Defense signed a contract with a Turkish company to provide clothing for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Along the way, summer jackets became winter jackets and tripled in price.
It was previously reported that the Ministry of Defense was preparing lawsuits over media reports about “swapping military uniforms.”
