Cargo ships collide off the west coast of Japan. One of them capsized and two crew members are missing, The Japan Times reported on August 25.
According to the Coast Guard, the accident occurred in the waters of Wakayama Prefecture last night. Around 23:40 local time, a Liberian-flagged ship immediately reported a collision with the Japanese ship Izumi Maru in the Kii Strait.
Due to the incident, a Japanese ship carrying approximately 1,100 tons of scrap metal capsized. Three of the five crew members were rescued, two others, including the captain, are being sought.
Of the 18 members of the ship, registered in Liberia, no one was injured.
It will be remembered that in July, a cargo ship sank off the coast of Taiwan. As a result of the disaster, more than a thousand containers fell into the water, blocking the water area for navigation.
