The creator of the live-action of ‘The Last of Us’ spoke about the possibility of the series having spin-offs
By all indications, there are chances that “The Last of Us” will have spin-offs. That’s because, the creator of the series, Craig Mazinsuggested in an interview with The Wrap that, at the moment, he would not be against the idea of having more productions in this universe and that Neil Druckmannthe co-showrunner of the HBO Max series, should also be excited about this possibility.
We haven’t specifically talked about that because we’re so focused on just telling that main narrative. I’m not against the idea of other series that might derive from these characters or this world. I don’t know how much more of ‘The Last of Us’ I personally would be able to do. I mean, these series are so huge that I’m kind of using one of the precious few decades I have left to tell this story. But, in principle, I have no problem with that. And I’m sure Neil would be interested too,” Mazin revealed to the publication (via Omelete).
mazin still added:
If there was something that made sense then I don’t see why not. My great hope is that if there is to be such a thing, it will be done with as much care, respect and love as we are putting into this series right now.”
It is worth remembering that earlier this year, the head of drama at HBO, Francesca Orsirevealed that the second season of “The Last of US” should only be released in 2025. However, the premiere may be delayed, according to mazinbecause of the actors and writers strikes that are happening in Hollywood.
“The Last of Us” has 24 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series and Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series. The series became the first live-action adaptation of a video game to be so successful in the industry.
