From the beginning of the present day, the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled the attacks of the Russian aggressors in the directions of Kupyansky, Avdeevsky and Maryinsky. At the same time, our soldiers continue to conduct an offensive in the direction of Melitopol. This was announced by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the evening briefing on Thursday, August 24.
It is indicated that a total of 26 combat clashes took place on the front.
“In the direction of Kupyansk, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in the area of Novogorovka, Lugansk region … In the direction of Avdiivka, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in the area south of Avdiivka, Donetsk region … In Maryinsky, the defense forces continue to prevent the advance of Russian troops in the areas northeast of Novomikhailovka and Maryinka, Donetsk region,” the statement said.
At the same time, the Defense Forces continue to conduct an offensive operation in the direction of Melitopol. Our troops are entrenched in the achieved lines and engaged in counter-battery combat.
During the day, the enemy launched five missiles and 34 air strikes, made 41 shelling from MLRS on the positions of our troops and settlements. Unfortunately, there were dead and wounded among the civilian population. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed.
In this regard, the aviation of the Defense Forces during the day delivered one blow to the command post, 13 strikes to the personnel concentration areas and three to the enemy’s anti-aircraft missile system.
During the day, missile and artillery units hit a command post, an area of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, three artillery in firing positions, an air defense weapon, an ammunition depot and a RES station.
It will be remembered that since the beginning of the war, Russia has lost almost 260 thousand soldiers who were killed. In the past day alone, 340 conquerors and 93 units of equipment were liquidated.
