The country’s government plans to encourage Ukrainians to work and provide housing.
Sweden in the spring budget will allocate 10.5 billion Swedish kronor (1.1 billion dollars) for housing and assistance for Ukrainian refugees. This was stated by Finance Minister Mikael Damberg, written by Svenska Dagbladet.
It was noted that the government will prepare a new law that will give the Swedish Migration Board the ability to oblige municipalities to provide housing for people covered by the Mass Refugee Directive.
“We will not go back to 2015, when some municipalities took responsibility and others did not,” the minister said.
The government also plans to encourage Ukrainians to work.
It should be noted that today there are about 26,000 Ukrainians in Sweden.
It will be recalled that, according to the UN, four million citizens have already left Ukraine because of the Russian war.
Refugees from Ukraine can stay in the EU for three years
