The European Union allocated another tranche of 1.5 billion euros to Ukraine as part of the macro-financial assistance program for 18 billion euros. This was announced by the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen in Twitter on Tuesday, August 22.
“We support Ukraine in its efforts to restore and support the functioning of the state. Today, we transferred another 1.5 billion euros to Ukraine. And there will be more this year and later,” he wrote.
It is known that the EU and its individual member states have provided more than 80 billion euros of various aid to Ukraine since the start of a full-scale war with Russia. This year, the EU will provide Ukraine with 18 billion euros of macro-financial assistance. Of this amount, 12 billion euros have already been paid. The previous tranche was received on July 25.
Earlier it became known that the European Commission is discussing the allocation of 50 billion euros to Ukraine. We are talking about a financial reserve for the needs of our country for the next four years in the form of loans and grants.
According to Ursula von der Leyen, the EU will cover 45% of all Ukraine’s needs.
