The head of state expressed hope that Greece will join in the restoration of the affected regions of Ukraine.

President Volodymyr Zelensky invited Greek President Yekaterina Sakellaropoulou to patronize Odessa and the Odessa region. The leaders of the two countries spoke about it during Zelensky’s visit to Greece on Monday, August 21, the Office of the President reports.

“We know about the special role of Odessa in the history of Greece and we hope that your country will be involved in the restoration of the city and region of Odessa. I suggest that Greece accept the patronage of this region,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy .

It was noted that the heads of state also discussed the current state of affairs on the front line and security in the region, taking into account the continuation of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

Zelensky thanked Greece and Katerina Sakellaropoulou personally for providing support since the beginning of the mass invasion.

He noted the special attention of the Greek leader to the needs of Ukrainian citizens who have found temporary asylum in this country. Zelensky separately thanked the Greek side for the rehabilitation program for Ukrainian children affected by the Russian aggression.

Last year, Zelensky proposed that Denmark take over “patronage” in Mykolaiv. Denmark responded to this proposal and agreed to assist Ukraine in restoring Nikolaev.
