Next year, eight more F-16 fighters will also leave Denmark for Ukraine, and five more by 2025
Until the end of this year, up to six F16 fighters will be delivered to Ukraine. This is what Danish Prime Minister Matte Frederiksen said at a press conference on August 20 after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“We are now continuing the screening process, training will also begin, respectively, so I hope that closer to the New Year, the first group of aircraft will leave Danish soil, go to Ukraine, about six of them ,” he says.
According to his forecasts, next year eight more aircraft will also leave from Denmark to Ukraine, and five more in a year. “So we will do it as soon as possible,” said Frederiksen.
Zelensky, for his part, answering the question of whether there are restrictions on the use of these aircraft, in particular, in attacks on Russian territory, said: “We did not discuss it.”
The President of Ukraine visited the air base of the Royal Danish Air Force Fighter Wing Skrydstrup, where he talked with the Ukrainian guys trained on the F-16.
Zelensky and Frederiksen discussed the expansion of training missions. “We are making every effort to speed up the preparations,” the president said.
Recall that Denmark announced its intention to provide Ukraine with 19 F-16 fighters. It was also learned that Ukraine will receive the F-16 from the Netherlands. According to Zelensky, 42 F-16 fighters are in Ukrainian skies.
