The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation confirmed on its Telegram channel on Saturday, August 19, the attack on the Soltsy military air base near the city of the same name in the Novgorod region and traditionally blames Ukraine for it.
The agency said a copter-type drone attempted to attack a military airfield, but the drone was allegedly “shot down from small arms.”
As a result of the attack, a fire broke out in the aircraft parking lot, which was allegedly quickly put out, the Russians said.
“One plane was damaged, but no one was killed as a result of the terrorist act,” the RF Ministry of Defense assured.
It is worth noting that social networks publish photos where there is a lot of smoke.
Recall that Ukrainian military commander Andriy Tsaplienko reported on the attack on Soltsy and added that Russian Tu-22m3 bombers were located there.
