If necessary, these engineering structures will be immediately used to stop the enemy. In total, Lithuania will have 19 parks where counter-mobility and fortification equipment will be stored.
Fortresses have already been installed at the Lithuanian checkpoint Shumskas on the border with Belarus. This was announced on Friday, August 18, by Laurynas Kaschyunas, a member of the National Security and Defense Parliamentary Committee, on Facebook.
“The process is underway. After the checkpoints were closed, the first fortifications appeared nearby. Your attention is the closed Shumskas checkpoint,” Kasciunas wrote, posting the corresponding photos.
According to him, the idea of installing fortifications and counter-mobility equipment appeared last year. As part of the implementation of this idea, Lithuania will have 19 parks where counter-mobility and fortification equipment will be stored.
Kaschyunas added that, if necessary, these engineering structures would be immediately used to stop the enemy. The first such park will appear in the fall of 2023, and the implementation of the entire project will take a year.
Recall that a few days before, the Lithuanian authorities announced that they were temporarily closing two checkpoints on the border with Belarus due to the arrival of the militants of the so-called Wagner PMC on the territory of Belarus.
As reported, Lithuania said that Belarusian special services are trying to recruit Lithuanians.
