Denmark and the Netherlands received official permission to transfer these combat aircraft to Ukraine. Washington assured the leadership of these countries that the United States will expedite the approval of all necessary formalities for the transfer of the F-16 to Ukraine as soon as the training of Ukrainian pilots is completed. It is reported by Reuters.
Recently Denmark and the Netherlands have invited these guarantees. And an unnamed official said that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken sent letters to his counterparts in Denmark and the Netherlands, assuring them that the requests would be approved.
I am writing to express the full support of the United States in both the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine and the training of Ukrainian pilots by qualified F-16 instructors, the letter said.
Blinken stressed that the transfer of fighters will allow Ukraine to take full advantage of its new capabilities, as soon as the first group of pilots pass the training courses.
Recall, on August 16, the speaker of the Air Force, Yuriy Ignat, said that Ukraine would not be able to receive F-16 fighters from the allies in the coming autumn or winter, so air defense should be strengthened.
