Mosque collapses in Nigeria with hundreds inside

The area’s emir told local reporters that a crack was found near one of the walls on Thursday.

A mosque in the Nigerian city of Zoriya collapsed during prayers, killing at least seven people and injuring more than 20. On Saturday, August 12, Reuters reports.

“First, four bodies were found under the rubble, after rescuers searched the destroyed mosque, three more bodies were found,” the report said.

The cause of the collapse is unknown, but police and building inspectors are investigating.

The mosque was built in the 1830s and, as local journalists wrote, has not been repaired for a long time.

Kaduna Governor Uba Sani has promised to help those affected by the “heart-breaking incident.”

Recall that in the state of Kwara in Nigeria, as a result of the capsize of a boat carrying wedding guests, 103 people died.

An outbreak of diphtheria has been recorded in Nigeria. This was announced by the Director General of the Nigerian Center for Disease Control and Prevention Ifedayo Adetifa.
