A mosque in the Nigerian city of Zoriya collapsed during prayers, killing at least seven people and injuring more than 20. On Saturday, August 12, Reuters reports.
“First, four bodies were found under the rubble, after rescuers searched the destroyed mosque, three more bodies were found,” the report said.
The cause of the collapse is unknown, but police and building inspectors are investigating.
The mosque was built in the 1830s and, as local journalists wrote, has not been repaired for a long time.
Kaduna Governor Uba Sani has promised to help those affected by the “heart-breaking incident.”
