On August 11, the SBU announced suspicion to the former chief communist of the country.
It was from this house that in the first days of the Russian invasion, according to the investigation, Russian special forces “evacuated” Simonenko and his family into the dew.
On the estate, SBU officers saw a pond, marble, gold, an unfurled red flag and luxury items. We also noticed someone’s “Budenovka”.
On August 11, the SBU reported the suspicion of Symonenko, who supported the aggression against Ukraine and fled to Russia during a full-scale invasion.
For the period of occupation of the Kiev region, he turned to the top military-political leadership of Russia about his “evacuation” to the aggressor country. In order to take Simonenko and his family out of the captured village of Berezovka in the Makarovsky district, the Kremlin ordered a detachment of Russian special forces to be sent there.
Upon the arrival of the Russian special forces, the ex-people’s deputy personally met them, and then quartered them in his own house.
Then, from March 4 to March 8, 2022, the occupying special unit “escorted” Simonenko and his relatives from behind enemy checkpoints to the territory of Belarus.
From there, he moved to Russia, where he was appointed deputy chairman of the Central Committee of the International Communist Association “Union of Communist Parties – the Communist Party of the Soviet Union”, controlled by the Russian Communist Party, headed by its leader, State Duma deputy Gennady Zyuganov.
It was on his instructions that Simonenko launched a public campaign in support of Moscow’s aggressive policy.
In October 2022, the ex-people’s deputy took part in the so-called “22nd International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties”, which was held in the city of Havana in Cuba.
During his speech at the forum, Simonenko tried to legitimize the seizure of part of the territory of Ukraine and the activities of the LPR/DPR, the SBU said in a statement.
In addition, according to the investigation, on April 21-22, 2023, Simonenko took part in the congress of the “anti-fascist forum” held in Minsk. There, he spoke in favor of continuing the war against Ukraine and justified the Kremlin’s narratives about the use of Russian tactical nuclear weapons.
Based on the collected evidence, Simonenko was notified of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation continues.
