In February 2022, the State produced 14 thousand shells per month. Now this number has grown to 24,000, and from next year it will produce up to 80,000 units per month.
The United States plans to increase production of 155-mm artillery shells from 24,000 to 80,000 per month next year. This was announced in a briefing on Thursday, August 10, by Pentagon Speaker General Patrick Ryder.
He noted that the United States has already provided more than two million 155 mm shells to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.
“We have also allowed a rapid increase in the production of 155mm ammunition. So from 14,000 per month in February 2022 to about 24,000 per month now, and we plan to reach a level of more than 80,000 per month next year ” – Ryder said.
According to the Pentagon spokesman, although such reserves are not unlimited, and they are being spent quickly, the American side will continue to “work closely with allies and partners around the world on this front.”
Ryder also spoke about the use of cluster munitions transferred by States to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“We have every indication that they are using these weapons properly on the battlefield. But apart from everything they need, we will continue to work closely to ensure they have what they need to continue fighting and regain sovereign territory,” he pointed out.
The media previously reported that Ukraine provided the Pentagon with a report on the use of cluster munitions.
