The German Defense Ministry on Tuesday announced that it had offered Poland to extend the stay of three Patriot complexes until the end of 2023, according to world agencies.
The ministry said in a statement that after 2023, the residence of the complexes in Poland “is not envisaged.”
Germany sent Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to Poland in January 2023, after a Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile landed in a Polish border village during another massive Russian missile attack on Ukraine, killing two people.
The complexes are deployed near the city of Zamosc, 50 km from the Ukrainian border and about 90 km from the junction of the borders of Poland, Ukraine and Belarusians, from which the Russians also launched missiles at Ukraine.
The railway leading to the Volyn region of Ukraine passes through Zamosc.
