Kyiv sent Budapest a request for an agrément for Fyodor Shandor several months ago, but it was only granted today.
On August 8, Hungarian President Katalin Novak agreed to the appointment of a new Ambassador of Ukraine, professor of Uzhgorod National University, soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Fedor Shandor. This was reported by the Hungarian TV channel ATV.
Kyiv sent Budapest a request for an agrément for Fyodor Shandor a few months ago, but the Hungarian side approved it only now. The reason for this is “the unwillingness of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to talk to the Hungarian president,” according to Hungarian media.
However, the media did not explain why Katalin Novak decided to give the agrément now.
The TV channel recalled that the President of Hungary should visit Kyiv on August 23 to participate in the Crimean Platform Summit, and before that, visit Transcarpathia and meet with representatives of the Hungarian national minority.
Today the agrément signed by Nowak will be given to the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the countersignature of Minister Peter Szijjártó. The decision will be published upon Sandor’s arrival in Budapest and the presentation of his credentials to the President of Hungary.
It will be remembered that earlier the Hungarian government published a video in which the occupied Crimea is not part of Ukraine. The video itself contains calls for an early end to the war.
