Only 178 parliamentarians voted for consideration of the bill. Not a single “yes” vote was given to European Solidarity, Batkivshchyna, Golos and the Doverie parliamentary group.
The Verkhovna Rada failed to include on the agenda a draft law that proposed giving the opportunity to people’s representatives to conduct remote voting. This was reported on Radio Liberty by Yaroslav Zheleznyak, MP from the Golos group.
According to him, on May 31, only 178 parliamentarians voted for consideration in the document (in particular, 160 “servants of the people”, nine members of the Platform for Life and Peace parliamentary group, three representatives of the Party For the Future parliamentary group, four members of the Restoration of Ukraine parliamentary group and two non-factional deputies). Not a single “yes” vote was given to European Solidarity, Batkivshchyna, Golos and the Doverie parliamentary group.
The draft law suggests that decisions at plenary sessions can be made remotely if:
-
supports the constitutional majority of parliament;
-
their handling within the walls of the Verkhovna Rada is impossible.
“If before that we liberated Ukraine, we would just cancel martial law,” Fedor Venislavsky said.
In distant plenary sessions, according to the draft law, representatives cannot consider the following issues:
-
on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine;
-
on the early termination of the powers of the president;
-
at the end of the peace and related issues.
Voting at distant plenary meetings on the draft law is proposed to be carried out by showing hands indicating the position “for”, “against” or “abstained” by voting (from the largest parliamentary group / representative group up to the smallest and non-factional representatives of the people).
Recall that the Verkhovna Rada removed Lyudmila Denisova from the post of Commissioner for Human Rights. The Servant of the People group decided to remove Denisova for improper performance of her duties after the start of a full -scale Russian invasion.
