Ukrainians will celebrate a new holiday on Russia’s Baptism Day – July 28. The president came to the initiative in the summer.
The Verkhovna Rada established July 28 as Ukrainian Statehood Day. This decision at a meeting on Tuesday, May 31, was supported by 257 representatives of the people, according to Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
The bill provides for amendments to Article 73 of the Labor Code of Ukraine, adding to it a new paragraph on the establishment of July 28 as Ukrainian Statehood Day as a holiday.
The initiative to introduce a new holiday last summer was made by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
It should be noted that this year, due to the impact of martial law on the territory of Ukraine, additional holidays were canceled.
