The occupation administration says the cause of the fire is a missile strike inflicted by Ukrainian HIMARS systems.
According to eyewitnesses, the shock wave from the detonation passed through the entire city and reached neighboring Donetsk. Windows were broken in many houses.
Subsequently, the center of strategic communications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the attack on the enemy’s strategic object.
As a result of the effective fire influence of the units of the Defense Forces, another lineup of Russian terrorists in the temporarily occupied Makeevka ceased to exist, the report says.
The refinery itself is located on the northern outskirts of the city and is less than 20 km from the line of combat and the nearest rear from which artillery could operate.
In the meantime, on the morning of July 5, the authorities of the Kursk and Belgorod regions of Russia announced shelling.
The governor of the Belgorod region, Gladkov, said in a telegram that the border town of Valuiki came under fire early in the morning on July 5.
The air defense system worked, but there is destruction on the ground,” Gladkov wrote, adding that two private houses and five cars were badly damaged.
Residents, according to reports, unfortunately, were not injured.
The head of the Kursk region, Roman Starovoit, in turn, announced the shelling of the village of Tetkino from Ukraine.
There were no casualties. School No. 2 received severe damage, he wrote.
The authorities of the Russian territories bordering Ukraine regularly report shelling from the Ukrainian side. In Ukraine, these statements are either not commented on, or they emphasize that they are conducting hostilities only on their territory.
