The EU is ready to allocate 9 billion euros to Ukraine

The funds will be used to restore Ukraine’s economy and infrastructure, which was damaged by the war imposed by Russia.

The European Union and its partners in the Group of Seven have agreed to provide Ukraine with 9 billion euros of financial assistance. About this on the night of Tuesday, May 31, nature European Council President Charles Michel on Twitter.

“The European Council has decided to continue to provide assistance to Ukraine to cover its current liquidity needs. The European Council is ready to allocate € 9 billion to Ukraine. Strong and concrete support for the reconstruction of Ukraine,” said the message.

According to media reports, part of this assistance program will be provided in the form of grants, and part – in the form of concessional loans.

Recall that on May 30, EU leaders during the summit in Brussels agreed on a sixth package of sanctions against Russia, according to which an embargo was introduced on imports of two-thirds of Russian oil.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke to European leaders, calling on allies to increase the pressure of sanctions on the Russian Federation.
