Now the Ukrainian authorities do not have direct radiation monitoring at the nuclear power plant, because the Russian occupiers have been restricting access to this information for several months. Ukraine has radiation monitoring sensors in the controlled area on the right bank of the Dnieper, and these sensors will monitor the radiation background. The President of NNEGC “Energoatom” Petr Kotin announced this on June 30 at a press conference.
If there really is a release at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, we will have information in a few hours. If there is a normal situation with the air, then in just a few minutes we will have this information,” he stressed.
Energy Minister German Galushchenko added that he very much hopes that the representatives of the IAEA present at the Zaporizhzhya NPP in the event of an accident will quickly transmit information about this to the headquarters of the agency and Ukraine.
Recall that the GUR said that the occupiers are reducing their presence on the territory of the ZNPP. One of the first to leave the station were three employees of Rosatom, who led the actions of the Russians. Also, Ukrainian employees who signed a contract with Rosatom received recommendations to evacuate.
