The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky by order implemented the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on accelerating judicial reform and overcoming manifestations of corruption in the justice system. So, for corruption in the courts they will be imprisoned for 10-15 years with confiscation of assets. This was stated on Friday, June 30, in a decree published on the website of the Office of the President.
“In accordance with Article 107 of the Constitution of Ukraine, I have ordered: Enact a decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine dated June 23, 2023 on accelerating judicial reform and overcoming manifestations of corruption in the justice system ,” the document said. .
It was also proposed to improve the procedure for electing Supreme Court judges to the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court and to introduce a mechanism for their recall through a meeting of judges.
In addition, it is proposed that the High Council of Justice examine all judges of the Supreme Court for possible violations of discipline or gross or systematic neglect of the duties of a judge, confirmation of the legality of sources of origin of property- property
The possibility of introducing a periodic psycho-physiological survey of judges using a polygraph is considered.
It was also proposed to strengthen the role of the institution of jury trial and expand its application.
The Cabinet of Ministers, in cooperation with the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission), has to prepare a concept for further reform of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
