Lithuania will transfer NASAMS rocket launchers, ten M113 armored personnel carriers, grenade launcher ammunition and 2.5 million rounds of ammunition to Ukraine.
The head of the Lithuanian Defense Ministry, Arvydas Anushauskas, while on an unannounced visit to Kyiv, presented to his Ukrainian counterpart Alexei Reznikov a long-term plan to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and also spoke about a new aid package. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Lithuania.
“We understand that only long-term military and financial support for Ukraine will bring stability to a free Europe. That is why we have prepared a three-year plan to support the Ukrainian army,” Anusauskas said.
He said the three main goals are:
-
make every effort to ensure the continued provision of military support to the Ukrainian army;
-
ensure the rehabilitation of wounded Ukrainian soldiers;
-
to continue consultations on defense reforms initiated before the war to bring Ukraine closer to NATO membership.
According to Anusauskas, Lithuania’s new support package includes NASAMS rocket launchers, which will be delivered to Ukraine in the fall. The package also includes ten M113 armored personnel carriers, ammunition for grenade launchers and 2.5 million rounds of ammunition, the latter of which will be shipped to Ukraine this week.
During the meeting, the defense ministers of Lithuania and Ukraine also discussed Ukraine’s progress in reforming the military training system and preparations for the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius.
Recall that Lithuania will provide Ukraine with ten armored personnel carriers and ammunition.
Earlier, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said that Ukraine will receive two launch systems for the NASAMS anti-aircraft missile system from Lithuania.
