Based on the evidence base collected by the SBU, it was possible to convict the head of the occupation administration of Russia in Zaporozhye. The Ukrainian court sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. This was announced on June 29 by the press center of the Security Service of Ukraine.
Investigators found that the ex-people’s deputy from the banned political force “Opposition Bloc” Balitsky at the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion was one of the first to publicly support the occupiers. Subsequently, the Russians appointed him Gauleiter in the occupied territory of the Zaporozhye region.
After that, the traitor began to spread the Kremlin regime in the region and crushed the resistance movement. He also organized the so-called referendum on the “accession” of the Zaporozhye region to Russia and falsified the results of the vote. Subsequently, he called on Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to “attach” the region to Russia, and on September 30 signed an illegal “treaty on joining” Zaporozhye into the aggressor country.
The court found the Gauleiter guilty under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 2 of Art. 28, part 5 of Art. 111-1 (participation in the organization and conduct of illegal referendums in the temporarily occupied territory) and Part 2 of Art. 110 (deliberate actions committed with the aim of changing the boundaries of the territory or the state border of Ukraine in violation of the procedure established by the Constitution of Ukraine). Currently, Balitsky is located in the temporarily occupied territory in southern Ukraine.
Recall, on October 25, a car exploded in Melitopol temporarily occupied by Russian troops. It happened at the headquarters of the FSB of Russia, which was located in the building of the Melitopol Gauleiter of Balitsky.
