According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, support for Ukraine’s weapons has skyrocketed, with 65% of respondents approving the shipments, up from 46% in the May poll.
81% of Democrats, 56% of Republicans and 57% of independents support US arms sales to Ukraine.
76% of Americans believe that providing assistance to Ukraine demonstrates to China and other rivals that the United States has the “freedom and ability” to protect US and allied interests.
According to other polling data, a large majority of Americans – 67% and 73% – will support a candidate in next year’s presidential election who will continue military assistance to Ukraine, and a candidate who supports the NATO alliance.
The Biden administration has approved 41 arms packages for Ukraine totaling more than $40 billion. after Russian President Vladimir Putin launched what he calls a “special military operation” in February 2022.
The Reuters/Ipsos online poll was conducted across the country, gathering responses from 1,000 adults, including 400 Democrats and 383 Republicans. The error is 4%.
