The politician insisted on deploying tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus, “so that no one pokes his head in here.”
The formal President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, on Tuesday, June 27, ordered officials to develop an “algorithm for the use” of nuclear weapons deployed by Russia. This was reported by the pro-government Belarusian agency BELTA.
He entrusted such work to Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Viktor Gulevich and Chairman of the State Security Committee Ivan Tertel.
“No one has ever fought a nuclear state … Its basis (algorithm, – ed.) we must use it in difficult times, if we are attacked. This means that they will attack, because they have begun to pronounce in Russia, the State of the Union,” said Lukashenko.
It should be recalled that the previous Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia would retain control over the nuclear weapons that would be deployed in Belarus.
On May 25, the defense ministers of Russia and Belarus signed documents on the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus. On the same day, Lukashenka announced that nuclear weapons had begun to be transferred to Belarus.
On June 14, Lukashenka confirmed that Belarus had already received tactical nuclear weapons from Russia. It is still being delivered.
