According to preliminary conclusions, the underwater tourist bathyscaphe was made with some shortcomings, experts said.
In Canada, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) launched an investigation into the accident of the Titan tourist submersible, which killed five people on board when the bathyscaphe sank. On Saturday, June 24, Reuters reports.
TSB explained that it had to step down from the business because its surface support vessel, the Polar Prince, had flown the Canadian flag.
The TSB team arrived in St. John’s to collect information and interview witnesses.
The wreckage of the Titan submarine, which was found under the North Atlantic on Thursday, is being studied using a robotic diving vehicle launched from a Canadian search vessel. Studying them, a group of experts came to the conclusion that the bathyscaphe was destroyed as a result of an internally directed explosion – explosion. That is, a vessel 22 feet long was crushed under the pressure of the water.
Fragments of the bathyscaphe, which lost contact with its surface support ship about an hour and 45 minutes after diving a week ago, were found on the seabed about 488 meters from the bow of the sunken Titanic, at a depth of about about 3.8 km.
Titan’s safety issues surfaced in 2018 during an industry expert symposium, as well as in a lawsuit by OceanGate’s former head of offshore operations that was settled later that year.
It will be remembered that in the Atlantic Ocean, an underwater vehicle is missing, which brings tourists to examine the remains of the sunken Titanic.
The remains of the missing bathyscaphe Titan have been found
