Vladimir Putin announced his intention to deploy nuclear weapons in Belarus, allegedly in response to Alexander Lukashenko’s request.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russia will maintain control over nuclear weapons deployed in Belarus. This was announced on Saturday, June 24, by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
He noted that the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, as members of the Union State, have the right to agree on the deployment of a part of tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
At the same time, Lavrov said that neither Minsk nor Moscow “is in any way violating any international obligations, including those under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.”
He said that putting the nucleus on Lukashenka would not give him the right to use it.
“Russia maintains control over the weapons that will be placed on the territory of Belarus,” Lavrov explained.
It will be remembered that on May 25, the defense ministers of Russia and Belarus signed documents on the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus. On the same day, Alexander Lukashenko said that nuclear weapons had already begun to be transferred to Belarus.
On June 14, Lukashenka confirmed that Belarus had already received tactical nuclear weapons from Russia. It is still being delivered.
The poll showed how many Russians support the use of nuclear weapons
