The Russian ruble fell against the backdrop of a military mutiny, which was started in Russia by PMC leader Wagner Evgeny Prigozhin. This was reported by the Russian pro-government news agency RIA-Novosti on its Telegram channel on Saturday, June 24.
The largest banks of the Russian Federation quickly raised exchange rates. In particular, the dollar in many financial institutions exceeds 90 rubles, the euro – 100 rubles.
Rosbank offers the highest rate: 105 rubles per dollar and 115 rubles per euro. Along with the smallest in Promsvyazbank – 84.87 and 93.06 and in Sberbank – 88.33 and 94.16 rubles, respectively.
Today in Moscow, at 13:00, the rate fluctuates around 80-85 rubles per dollar. Exchangers in the capital of the aggressor country sell foreign currency for 95-100 rubles, and sometimes even for 200 rubles.
In many exchange offices and banks, the exchange rate has been frozen since the evening of Friday, June 23.
Recall that on the evening of Saturday, June 24, Prigozhin published a new voice message in which he said that his fighters had crossed the state border of the Russian Federation “in all places” and were about to enter Rostov.
The head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, said that the “Wagnerites” are now “trying to organize a rebellion” in Russia and the Russian Federation, saying that they are “protecting themselves from internal betrayal.” In this regard, the Russian army received an order to neutralize the “organized rebellion.”
