The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine called on foreign partners to share the additional profits in the energy market received as a result of the war unleashed by Russia.
Romania is considering the possibility of directing part of the profits of energy companies to the restoration of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. This was announced on June 23 by the Ministry of Energy following the meeting of Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko with Romanian Foreign Minister Luminica Odobescu in London.
The parties discussed measures to strengthen energy security in the region, as well as assistance to the Ukrainian energy sector in the restoration and renewal of infrastructure facilities destroyed as a result of Russian attacks.
“At the meeting, the ministers paid special attention to the appeal of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine to foreign partners to share additional income received by energy companies as a result of the war unleashed by Russia in Ukraine, which led to significant price increase in the energy markets, and then – unplanned income of their players,” said the statement. department.
In response to this appeal, the Minister of Energy of Romania, Virgil Daniel Popescu, informed the Ukrainian side about the readiness of Romanian colleagues to consider the initiative.
The Ministry of Energy recalled that the Lithuanian Ignitis Group was the first to decide on the direction of 10% (12 million euros) of surplus income for the restoration of Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that contributions to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine exceeded 219 million euros.
