The plaintiff against Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who no longer has immunity, in most cases is the President of Turkey himself.
Turkish politician Kemal Kilicdaroglu, the main rival of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was re-elected for a second term, could be sentenced to prison. This was reported by the local edition of Cumhuriyet.
The media said that the former presidential candidate’s lawyer, Celal Celik, said that 28 cases have been filed against Kılıçdaroglu and they have been transferred to the Ankara prosecutor’s office.
The investigation into the claims was stopped because Kılıçdaroğlu is a member of the Turkish parliament and has immunity, Celik explained. However, today the politician does not have such a privilege, because he did not enter the Grand National Assembly.
The publication added that most of the cases filed against Kılıçdaroglu were related to insults or accusations against Erdogan. The former candidate compared the incumbent to Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi and Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu.
Journalists note that Erdogan himself is the plaintiff in most of the cases.
