Ukraine must put an end to 30 years of nepotism and corruption in order to become a member of the European Union. This statement was made by the head of the German Foreign Ministry Annelena Berbock on the sidelines of the Conference on the Resumption of Ukraine in London, writes the DPA agency.

According to Burbock, Ukraine has already made progress in its reform efforts towards the European Union, especially in the areas of free media and the rule of law. However, in the future, Kyiv needs further progress “to end 30 years of nepotism and corruption.” At the same time, the head of the German Foreign Ministry pointed out that steps towards reform in Ukraine are being carried out at an “incredible speed” and Berlin is actively supporting this.
According to Burbock, there is no doubt that Ukraine will join the EU, so the investment of private companies in the reconstruction of the country is justified, because in the end they strengthen the single European market.
Burbock is confident that Ukraine can become a decisive factor in strengthening the single European market, especially in the field of clean energy.
